1 fruit and veg
Fruit and vegetables contain a lot of minerals and vitamins as well as other important ingredients which are essential to weight loss. ‘The 5 a day’ theory though a cliche and over flogged still works when it is properly implemented. Fruits are a good way to eat well and lose weight well. Ensure you have your 5 a day. Sounds impossible? No it doesn’t have to. Just adding some fruit to cereal, porridge or lower-fat natural yoghurt could do the trick. You could also substitute fruit juice for fresh fruits. Eating fruit for snacks instead of the usual crisps could be another way round it. Canned and dried fruit could also do the trick.
2 Do not chose to skip meals
Lose weight now believe missing breakfast will starve your body of vital mineral and nutrients. It is also counter productive as it could make you snack more frequently. Good hydration maintains the body’s fluid composition, this helps with the movement of vital body nutrients, regulates body temperature and aids digestion and more. Water is a good way to lose weight.
4 Size matters
Eating smaller portions is crucial to maintaining a good body weight. The best way to get round this is eating practice, use smaller dishes for a while and you could eventually get used to eating small quantities. Avoid eating fast and don’t wait till you feel too full.
5 Avoid junk food and drinks in cupboards
To avoid temptation, try to not stock junk food – such as chocolate, biscuits, crisps and sweet fizzy drinks – at home. Instead, opt for healthy snacks, such as fruit, unsalted rice cakes, oat cakes, unsalted or unsweetened popcorn, and fruit juice. Cut down on alcohol consumption. Drinking one glass of wine can be equivalent to eating a piece of chocolate.
6 Plan your meals
Try to plan your breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for the week, making sure you stick to your calorie allowance. You may find it helpful to make a weekly shopping list. This will help with weigh loss as planning prevents temptation.
